The Scurry County Historical Commission has reprinted

Footprints Across Scurry County 1884-1984,

originally published in 1984. 

 Footprints is the result of thousands of hours of conscientious volunteer work.  This project began in May 1983 as an attempt to record the history of Scurry Count in a different perspective than ordinary history books written in the past.  It gives an account of the personality of the county more than just a record of facts.  The over eleven-hundred stories in the family history section were written by individual families.  The authors listed at the end of each story were responsible for the accuracy of each story.

The General History section compiles the research and knowledge of several different Scurry County citizens.  They worked together in a concentrated effort to record the history of Scurry County in an accurate and readable way.

The Scurry County book committee believes this book will become a valuable family heirloom to be passed from generation to generation.  Curl up in your favorite chair with a cup of coffee and enjoy reading about the past and present citizens who have made their footprints across Scurry County.
